In 2018, the Elecnor Foundation set out to instill its motto, “safety is non-negotiable,” in primary school children. This led to the creation of the Growing in Prevention project, which continues to evolve four years later. Initially, it was an educational program with in-person activities. However, in 2020, the very day the educational program was set to begin in schools, a state of emergency was declared due to the COVID-19 health crisis, making in-person delivery unfeasible.
The Elecnor Foundation developed a new initiative: Growing in Prevention COVID. This was an educational program with digital content, an online tool that allowed teachers to deliver the curriculum remotely, teaching COVID-19 prevention measures through engaging audiovisual content and providing the educational community with professional prevention resources.
In 2020, aware of the health crisis’s impact and its psychological effects on children, the Elecnor Foundation designed a new educational project called Growing in Emotional Prevention, which was presented to the Community of Madrid and the Junta of Extremadura for implementation in the 2021/2022 school year. Later, the Communities of Castilla-La Mancha and Navarra joined the project for the 2022/2023 school year. In Navarra, it was offered bilingually (Basque/Spanish), with all materials and the professional team adapted. The project was very well received by all institutions, which decided to join the initiative.
For 2023, the projection is as follows:
