Corresponsables, a media, foundation and observatory, leader in responsible journalism and communication in Latin America, has presented the Corresponsables Yearbook 2022 at an in-person and online conference, broadcast via Twitter under the slogan: "Risks, actions and main sustainable opportunities in ESG".

As usual in the Corresponsables Conferences, more than 20 organisations from all leading stakeholders in Sustainability and CSR such as the Spanish Global Compact Network, Forética, DIRSE, European Commission, RSC Observatory, SERES Foundation, Excellence in Sustainability Club... participated in the event.

Our participation in the first round table / colloquium focused on the risks, actions and main opportunities in ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance).

This session was moderated by Antonio Argandoña, Professor Emeritus and Professor at IESE Business School. Together with him, Jorge Ballester, Director of Internal Communication and Media Relations of the Elecnor Group; Miguel Ángel Sampietro, Director of the Sifu Group Foundation; Alberto Ruano, General Manager of Lenovo Iberia and Sonia Hérnandez, Commercial Director of Vantage Towers, addressed the risks, main actions and opportunities in the environmental, social and corporate governance fields.

Jorge Ballester, from Elecnor Group said that "we want to strengthen the idea that ethics and business go hand in hand and this forum is essential to spread the concept of ESG in companies so that we can work for society". In addition, the Group's Internal Communication Director warned that "a company has to improve its reputation the more it works on its ethics. People notice us as soon as we implement social projects. Business and society go hand in hand".

For his part, Miguel Ángel Sampietro, Director of the Sifu Group Foundation, pointed out that "companies that do not know how to develop ESG aspects are doomed to disappear" and insisted that "ESG must emanate from management and be transversal to all areas of organisations. A company will be more attractive to its stakeholders the more it works on its RSC".

In this line, Alberto Ruano, General Manager of Lenovo Iberia explained that "we contribute with thousands of possibilities and resources to the sustainability of the planet", and pointed out that "we promote the social awareness of employees and customers. It is essential to align ourselves with institutions and society and to communicate this".

This was followed by Sonia Hérnandez, Commercial Director of Vantage Towers, who explained how ESG works and said that "we need to align political, public and private agendas. In the field of connectivity, which is a human right, it is necessary to have integrated projects". He concluded his speech by indicating that "we all have to work together so that human rights can be taken to all corners of the world. There is a lot of investment, European funds, which are necessary to integrate projects that really serve society. Our axes are honesty, transparency and respect. We are society and at Vantage Towers the impact we have is social. Our job is to explain more about this social impact".

Finally, Antonio Argandoña, professor emeritus and professor at IESE Business School concluded by stressing that "we must raise awareness of ESG in society, align organisations with institutions and society and communicate it, as well as create social impact".

The event, both in person and online, could be followed on social networks through the hashtag #JAnuario2022MAD, with more than 35,000 followers online.
