The third level “Specialist Course in Low- and Medium-Voltage Electrical Installations” developed by Elecnor Foundation in collaboration with Salesian Deusto College (Deusto, Bilbao) has successfully completed its first edition, which was designed to complement the formal training given to students and aims to prepare them for their future professional careers in the electrical sector.

This is a pioneering course in building connections between Vocational Training and the business world. The educational programme has been developed by Elecnor Foundation, which has also funded the adaptation of the laboratory at Salesian Deusto College and provided the equipment required to run the course.

Elecnor Foundation has awarded students their diplomas confirming successful completion of the course at a ceremony attended by, amongst others: Jorge Arévalo, Deputy Secretary for Vocational Training and Life-long Learning in the Basque Government, Isaac Díez de la Iglesia, Director of the Salesian Deusto College and Pedro Luis Valle, Director of Corporate Resources in Elecnor.

“Elecnor Foundation seeks to contribute to vocational and university education with its activities. We have sought to make use of our know-how and experience at Elecnor to establish this educational project. With this initiative we seek to, on the one hand, prepare Vocational Training students, who will be the future professionals of the field, and on the other hand, to build links with business and Vocational Training - unfortunately this type of collaborations are not very common and we think it is essential to foster activities that promote this connection”, explained Pedro Luis Valle, Director of Corporate Resources in Elecnor.

The third level “Specialist Course in Low- and Medium-Voltage Electrical Installations” has a modular format and 60 hour duration; this includes lectures, workshops and visiting real installations at Elecnor. Students have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and to practice working safely in confined spaces or dangerous environments, carry out operations in Medium-Voltage installations and on Low-Voltage electrical systems. They have also acquired the knowledge to carry out high rise works effectively and safely, amongst other skills.

“The experience has been very satisfactory and exceeded our initial objectives”. Our aim now is to continue supporting education and collaborative projects of this type, to continue to facilitate young people’s access to the workforce”, concluded Pedro Luis del Valle.
