Elecnor Foundation twins with Mexico

12/04/2019

Our foundation and the Casa de México foundation in Madrid have signed an agreement to explore ways to collaborate on social infrastructure projects in Mexico.

The chairman of the Elecnor Foundation, Fernando Azaola, and the Director of Casa de México, Ximena Caraza, signed the agreement.

The functions and activities of Casa de México are aimed at promoting, supporting and disseminating Mexican culture, as well as strengthening institutional relations between Mexico and Spain and international development co-operation. The purpose of this memorandum is to build bridges of understanding, co-operation, knowledge and experiences based on a supportive relationship during the development of projects, programmes and activities of mutual interest.

The Elecnor Foundation always seeks to collaborate with strategic partners that bring value to our projects and that promote their sustainability. Shortly we will inform you about an initiative in the town of La Nopalera in the state of Morelos (Mexico). La Nopalera was the epicentre of the Puebla earthquake on 19 September 2017 and most of its infrastructure collapsed: the church, school, health centre, homes etc.  It will be the first fruit of the partnership with Casa de México and we hope that there will be many more.

About Casa de México

Casa de México plans to carry out over 500 activities a year, from exhibitions, to community workshops and culinary classes for both Spanish and Mexican tourists.

Casa de México will have exhibition halls, workshops, the Octavio Paz Library, a co-working space for innovative business projects, a gourmet restaurant, a culinary classroom, a concept store managed by MIMA (Made In México con Amor — made in Mexico with love) and a cinema and auditorium with 60 seats for screenings. All of this contributes to ensuring that the place becomes "a space to exchange knowledge and that gives a voice to well-known figures and to young talent in the different arts", says Caraza.

We recommend a visit the museum:
