The Elecnor Foundation and the Rotary Foundation will promote the development of water and energy projects

02/04/2012

The new collaboration agreement between the Elecnor Foundation and the Water Resource Committee of the Rotary Foundation, district 2202, will focus on developing international cooperation activities relating to water and energy projects.

Both non-profit institutions have the same objective of providing tools that promote social and economic growth of people who live in underdeveloped areas and who find it difficult to access essential resources such as energy and drinking water. Both institutions aspire to improve health, support education and mitigate poverty.

The collaboration between these foundations, the exchange of experiences and knowledge all contribute to achieving mutual interests to improve living conditions and to create opportunities that generate wealth for the most vulnerable people in developing countries, for example in Africa and Latin America.

This agreement was made to identify, plan, design, coordinate and co-finance specific development cooperation projects and programmes in relation to water, the use of renewable energies, basic living standards and the sustainable management of natural resources. These activities aim to make the projects more efficient so they have more of a positive impact, making the target recipients of the activities the actual motors of their development, among other objectives. Consequently, the development of training and assistance activities aimed at strengthening local bodies by other institutions will be promoted.
